Most of the country is Catholic and
follow the rites of the church,
however, they do bury their dead as
soon as possible after death.

The average funeral costs more than a
wedding. The undertakers advertise
their wares much like stores advertise
sale goods. Each undertaker gives his
prices; they will tell you just what you
can get for your money and many will
tell you of the greatness of their particular burial caskets, embalming methods, and
his ability to take charge of all necessary accompaniments for the departed to be
buried in the most fashionable way.

Most of the country also partakes in ancestral veneration, or
ancestor worship.
The family holds holy masses for the departed, on the anniversary of their death,
carrying on the traditions of their ancestors. Those who do not participate can and
will be snubbed by family and friends of the departed if they fail to attend, or
lacking ability to attend the mass, a card is delivered the day of the mass to the
family.
